Marietta S. Koch Obituary – 11/6/2016


Marietta S. Koch, age 88, of Winsted, passed away Sunday, Nov. 6, 2016, at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.

She was born Sept. 29, 1928, in Victor Township, Wright County, the daughter of Paul H. and Sophia (Kieser) Kritzeck.

Marietta was baptized at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted Sept. 30, 1928.

She attended Holy Trinity School in Winsted for six years, until her family moved to Buffalo.

Marietta graduated from Buffalo High School in 1946; and from The Business College of Commerce in Minneapolis in 1947. She was employed as a secretary at Locke Inc.

Marietta moved back to Winsted in 1949, and lived the rest of her life there.

She was joined in holy matrimony with Vern A. Koch May 25, 1950, in Winsted. God blessed their marriage with seven children.

Through the years, Marietta worked in the family’s businesses, Winsted Farm Equipment, and K-Way Express.

She enjoyed the family farm near Blackduck, and was a wonderful mom, grandma and great-grandma!

Marietta was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted.

She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Kathy Koch of Chisago City; children: Wayne Koch of Blackduck, Barbara (David) Kutz of Loretto, Patricia (Timothy) Eiden of Chaska, James (Janet) Koch, and Jeffrey (Janell) Koch, all of Winsted, and Bruce (Nicole) Koch of Buffalo; 17 grandchildren: Matthew (Missy) Koch, Emily Koch, Aaron Kutz, Kate (Tim) Dahl, Douglas Eiden, Amy (Phil) Pieper, Lynn (Bryant) Johnson, Mark Eiden, Jennie Koch, Jackie (Andy) Seibel, Jason (Katelyn) Koch, Jillian Koch, Joel Koch, Carter Koch, Eli Koch, Mason Koch and Conrad Koch; 9 great grandchildren: Ella Koch, Michael Koch, Cooper Petrich, Abby Dahl, Josh Dahl, Jameson Pieper, Jordan Koch, Anna Seibel and Leo Seibel; a sister-in-law, Sidora Koch of Winsted; and many other relatives and friends.

Marietta was preceded in death by her husband, Vern; a son, Michael Koch; her parents; a sister, Florentine “Floss” Kosek; and brothers Lawrence “Brownie” Kritzeck, Mark Kritzeck, Gervase Kritzeck, and Willard “Bill” Kritzeck.

A Mass of Christian Burial took place Friday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted, with Father Paul Schumacher as the celebrant. Interment followed at Holy Trinity Cemetery.

There was visitation Thursday, Nov. 10 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continued Friday morning at the church, beginning at 9 a.m.

Honorary bearers were Matthew Koch, Joel Koch, Douglas Eiden, Mark Eiden, Aaron Kutz, and Jason Koch.
