Eugene Paul Kosciolek, age 88, of Dassel, former longtime resident of Burnsville, passed away peacefully at his home Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2016.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place Monday, Feb. 15 at 3 p.m. at Mary, Mother of the Church (3333 E. Cliff Rd.) in Burnsville. There will be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
Arrangements are with the White Funeral Home, Apple Valley.
Eugene was born Aug. 23, 1927, and attended Holy Cross grade school and De La Salle High School, graduating in 1946.
He proudly served in the United States Army and Air Force, after which he attended Minneapolis Business Collage, graduating in a junior accounting course.
Eugene was married May 10, 1952, to his wife, Dolores, at St Kevin’s Church in Minneapolis.
For 12 years, Eugene worked for Greyhound Bus Company; and for most of his working life (35 years), he worked for the US Post Office, with 30 years at the Nikomas Station.
Eugene was very religious, and a devout Catholic. He enjoyed gardening, stamp collecting, and was a big sports fan; both pro and college.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores; children Eugene Jr., and Elaine; and great-grandchildren Ruby and Holly.
Eugene is survived by his children, Diane (Michael) Krekelberg, Ray (Debie), and Ken (Jodie); 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
