Leonard Frank Kosek, age 82, of Winsted, passed away Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016, at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.
He was born Dec. 7, 1933, in Hale Township, McLeod County, to Frank and Kathryn (Nowak) Kosek.
He married Liz Smykalski Oct. 13, 1962, at St. Adalbert’s Catholic Church in Silver Lake.
Leonard worked at Advanced Machine for 25 years.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening; and was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Kathryn; daughter Laurie Poetz; sisters Arlene and Delores; brothers and sisters-in-law Melvin, Mary Jane, Raymond, Shirley, Lenny, Alfred, and Delbert; infants Leroy and Mercedes; and mother-in-law and father-in-law Peter and Cecilia Smykalski.
Leonard is survived by his wife, Liz Kosek of Winsted; grandson Dustin Diers; son-in-law Greg Poetz; brothers Clem (Verona) Kosek, Edward Kosek, and Roger Kosek, all of Silver Lake; sister Darlene (Milo) Babatz of Longville; and many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial took place Wednesday, Feb 17 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted, followed by interment at the church cemetery.
Visitation was Tuesday, Feb. 16 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted, with a rosary recited at 4:30 p.m., and parish prayers at 7:30 p.m. There was further visitation Wednesday from 9 to 10 a.m., also at the funeral home.
