Joyce E. Lanie, age 73, of Anoka, lost her battle with cancer Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016.
Joyce was known as the “bear lady” for her collection of stuffed bear animals; she loved spending time with family and friends, traveling and camping.
Joyce was devoted to her faith; even through her battle with cancer, her devotion to her faith remained strong.
Joyce was a member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, and served as secretary at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Anoka for more than 25 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elroy and Eveline Wendorf; brother, Roger Wendorf; and brother-in-law, Erland Raduenz.
Joyce is survived by her husband of 47 years, Ed Lanie; son, Bill (Katie) Lanie; grandson, Michael (Ashley) Martin-Lowers; great-grandchildren, Rayden, and Jayce; brothers Earl (Helen) Wendorf, Merlin (Eva) Wendorf, Virgil (Majel) Wendorf, and Allen (Laura) Wendorf; sister Lois Raduenz; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.
A memorial service took place Thursday, Oct. 27 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Anoka. Interment was in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
There was visitation Wednesday, Oct. 26 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Gearhart Anoka Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church.
