Donald Leo Lanning, 81, passed away Thursday, Aug. 18, 2016.
Donald Leo Lanning was born May 25, 1935, in Louisville, KY.
He lived in Texas for a short time, but grew up mainly in Louisville.
He graduated from St. Xavier High School in Louisville, KY.
After spending some time in the US Army, he went on to the University of Louisville, then to St. Thomas University in St. Paul, graduating with a degree in electrical engineering.
He worked at various places in Minneapolis as an electrical engineer, the last being EPI, retiring just last year.
He lived in Minneapolis until his marriage to Lucille Lorence March 20, 1993.The couple made their home in Cokato.
Donald enjoyed everything about trains and was an avid model train fan.
He is survived by his wife Lucille of Cokato; son Michael Lanning of Hopkins;step-children: Vicky (Doug) Lindgren of Cokato, Randy (Susan) Vogt ofDuluth; and step-grandchildren: Angie, Jeremiah, Aurora, Anna, Naomi, and Adam.
A memorial service will take place Saturday, Sept. 10 at 2 p.m. at Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home in Cokato.
