Claire E. Larson, 74

Claire Edith (Huser) Larson, age 74, of Mendota Heights, formerly of Lester Prairie, passed away peacefully Monday, July 25, 2016, at Heart to Home in Mendota Heights.

She was born Sept. 21, 1941, in Bergen Township, McLeod County, the daughter of Harry and Edythe (Gee) Huser. Claire was baptized as an infant Nov. 2, 1941, by the Rev. Robinson at Methodist Church in Lester Prairie; and later confirmed in her faith April 5, 1959, by the Rev. Joel O. Rustad at Bergen Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie.

Claire received her education in Lester Prairie, graduating with the Lester Prairie High School class of 1959. She furthered her education by attending St. Cloud State University, where she received a bachelor of science degree, with a major in music, and a minor in art.

Claire was united in marriage to Lloyd Larson Oct. 21, 1967, by the Rev. Wayne Thompson at Bethel Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie. The couple made their home in Minneapolis and Lester Prairie, and their marriage was blessed with two daughters, Kari and Amy. They shared over 42 years of marriage until Lloyd passed away March 26, 2010.

In addition to being a loving wife, mother, and homemaker, Claire worked as an elementary music teacher in Minnetonka, Silver Lake, and Hutchinson.She was a very active member at Bethel Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie, where she directed the choir, taught Sunday school, helped with the lutefisk dinner, and loved to add her special touches to the décor.

Claire enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking, singing, dancing, and skiing. She loved a good joke, playing the violin, and spending time with her grandchildren, and was always looking for something creative to do. Claire cherished the time spent with her family and many friends.

She is survived by her daughters, Kari Osmek and her husband, David, of Mound, and Amy Getsch and her husband, Dan, of Woodbury; grandchildren, Christine Osmek, Samantha Osmek, Ainsley Getsch, and Owen Getsch; sisters Arlene (Phil) Powers and Eunice (Leroy) Meyer; sister-in-law Jean Sletten; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

In addition to her husband, Lloyd, Claire was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Edythe Huser.

Funeral services celebrating Claire’s life took place Friday, July 29 at 11 a.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie, followed by interment at the church cemetery. The Rev. William Nelsen officiated, and Jan Smith was the organist. Special music was provided by the Bethel Lutheran Church choir. Violin selections were performed by Bekah Lundstrom, Ella and Jens. The congregational hymns were “Amazing Grace,” “Children Of The Heavenly Father,” “Beautiful Savior,” and “Great Is Thy Faithfulness”
