Charles L. LeFevere, age 69, of Dassel, formerly of Minnetonka, passed away peacefully and in his wife’s arms Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016, after a battle with lymphoma.
Charlie graduated from St. Olaf College in 1968, and the University of Minnesota Law School in 1975.
He was an officer in the US Navy from 1969 to 1972.
A shareholder in the Kennedy & Graven law firm, he served as city attorney for New Brighton, Rosemount, Brooklyn Center, Cambridge, and Rice; and interim city attorney for Minnetonka.
Charles was one of only two attorneys to provide legal counsel to the Lake Minnetonka Conservation District. He also represented the Shingle Creek and Bassett Creek watershed management districts.
He served as president of the Brooklyn Center Rotary Club, chair of the Minnetonka Board of Zoning Adjustment, president of the Wayzata Youth Hockey Association, and frequently as an invited speaker at legal forums.
Charlie was a kind, caring, selfless, and honorable man with a big smile and an always-present sense of humor. He cherished his wife, was so proud of his children and grandchildren, and delighted in spending time with all of them.
Charlie loved hunting and fishing, and the annual trips with his buddies. His beloved dog, Jambo, was always at his side as he worked on trails or rehabbed the cabin.
He was so loved and will be so terribly missed by his wife, Kathryn; son, Rob (Jenny); daughter, Kate Gourley (Chad); grandchildren, Casey, Calvin, Gavin, and Brayden; and brothers, Tom (Jeanne) and Clayton (Mary).
A celebration of Charlie’s life took place Thursday, Feb. 4 at 2 p.m. at Wayzata Community Church.
There was visitation Wednesday, Feb. 3 from 5 to 7 p.m. at David Lee Funeral Home in Wayzata, which handled the arrangements.
Memorials may be sent to St. Olaf College or Pheasants Forever.
