Nancy Jean Main, age 78, of Howard Lake, passed away Sunday, Oct. 23, 2016, at her home.
She was born Sept. 15, 1938, in Nashwauk, MN, to Silven and Margaret (Moffatt) Buescher.
Nancy graduated from Nashwauk High School in 1956, and went on to get her teaching degree from St Cloud State University.
She married Darrell Main June 15, 1963, at Nashwauk Lutheran Church. Early in their marriage, the couple lived in many places, finally settling in Howard Lake.
Nancy had many jobs in her lifetime, including working at the Wright County Sheriff’s Office, owner of the Howard Lake bowling alley with her husband, and teaching for over 25 years at the elementary school in the Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted School District.
Nancy loved music and singing; she was a long-time member of her church choir. She also enjoyed reading, stamping, and having coffee with friends.
Nancy was an active member of St John’s Lutheran Church, the Howard Lake Legion Auxiliary, helped with the Girls State program, worked with the queen’s program for Good Neighbor Days, judged many town queen pageants, was part of the Red Hats Society, and was a very involved member with the Howard Lake Lions.
She is survived by her husband, Darrell, of Howard Lake; son Fred (Catherine) of Buffalo, and their children, Kaitlyn and Fred; daughter Kristi of Loretto; nephews Robert Buescher, and Thomas (Nancy) Buescher; niece Traci Buescher (Brad Keith); and many great nephews and nieces.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; brother; and sister-in-law.
A memorial service took place Thursday, Oct. 27 at 1 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Howard Lake. There was visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment was at Howard Lake Cemetery.
