Donald M. Mengelkoch, age 75, of South Haven, formerly of Waverly, passed away peacefully Thursday, Jan. 7, 2016, at his home.
He was born Jan. 3, 1941, in Minneapolis, to John and Afra (Brummer) Mengelkoch.
Donald married Mary Lou Bernick April 22, 1961, and they were blessed with six children.
Donald served in the US Army from 1964 to 1967.
He loved spending time with his family, hot rod cars, and taking trips to the casino. Donald also enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, spending time at the lake, four-wheeling, and grilling. He was a great storyteller.
Donald was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou; his parents; a brother, Frank; and a sister, Linda.
He is survived by five sons: William, Mike (Charlene), Mark (Lori), Donald (Jodi), and Kevin (Barbara); a daughter, Brenda (Kevin) Strauss; 17 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and seven siblings.
Memorial services took place Friday, Jan. 15 at 3 p.m. at the Iten Funeral Chapel in Delano, with a gathering of family and friends from 1 to 3 p.m., prior to the service.
Arrangements were with the Iten Funeral Home, Delano.
