Vernice C. Narr, 92

Vernice Caroline Narr, age 92, of Woodland Township, passed away Friday, July 15, 2016, at the Elim Home in Watertown.

She was born Dec. 17, 1923, in Woodland Township, the daughter of Gustav and Lena (Domjahn) Guetzkow. Vernice was baptized as an infant Jan. 27, 1924, at the St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany by the Rev. Theodore Rolf; and was confirmed in her faith at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Montrose Aug. 1, 1937, by the Rev. Alvin H. Leerssen.

Vernice was united in marriage with Raymond E. Narr Oct. 16, 1941, at St. Mark Lutheran Church, New Germany by the Rev. Theodore Rolf.

Vernice enjoyed gardening and canning her produce, caring for flowers, especially African Violets; baking, and crocheting. She loved to prepare for the holidays, and always hoped everyone would be home.

In addition, Vernice enjoyed vacations up north, visiting with family and friends, and working alongside her husband. She will be remembered for her loving personality and her constant concern for others, especially her family.

Vernice had the honor of being godmother to June Gongoll, Joyce Schmidt, Donald Narr, Kathy Vinkemeier, Roger Dobratz, and Betty Jopp.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Narr; son John Narr; son-in-law Harlan Dobratz; grandsons Roger Dobratz, and James Hoese; great-granddaughter Carrie Peterson; great-great-grandson Gavin Andrew Jopp; father and mother Gustav and Lena Guetzkow; sisters and brothers-in-law Merline and DeVern Jorgensen, Mervanna and Clinton Spomer, and Ardis and Woodrow Hecksel; and father-in-law and mother-in-law John and Martha Narr.

Vernice is survived by her loving family: daughters and sons-in-law Valaria and Lowell Schubert of Delano, Carolyn Dobratz of New Germany, Linda and Erland Hoese of Howard Lake, and Becky and Jeff Grossinger of Delano; son and daughter-in-law Bruce and Sandy Narr of Dassel; and grandchildren Renae (Brian) Clark, Brian (Jami) Schubert, Jerry (Kelly) Schubert, Robert (Jodie) Dobratz, Cindy Dobratz, Dianne Dobratz, Beth (Mike) Baumann, Betty (Todd) Jopp, Bobbi Jo (Chris) Kadrie, Delilah (Jay) Ownbey, Jon (Erin) Narr, Gene Narr, Wendy Narr, Jesse (Dana) Narr, Danielle Engel, Brian Grossinger, and Aaron Grossinger.

She is further survived by great-grandchildren Lily and Carson Clark, Wyatt Gabrelcik, Roslyn Schubert, Ashley (friend Todd) Dobratz, Chad Dobratz, Denise (Kevin) Dokken, Cheryl Williams, Joe Peterson, Jessica (Jason) Smith, Ryan (Carmen) Baumann, Casondra (Rick) Stifter, Patrick (Leah) Jopp, Samantha (Andy) Trible, Jared Kadrie, Trevor Ownbey, Cody Ownbey, Isaiah Narr, Jordan Kelly; great-great-grandchildren Nicole Dokken, David Dokken, Hailey (fiance Troy) Peterson, Raeven Peterson, Montana Peterson, Ashlyn Kley, Lydia Stifter, Addalyn Baumann, Lily Smith, and Laila Trible; great-great-great-grandchildren Bentley Dokken, and Kendel Peterson; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

The funeral service took place Tuesday, July 19 at 11 a.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany with the Rev. LeRoy LaPlant officiating. There was visitation at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment was in the Crow River Cemetery in New Germany.

Vernice’s grandsons were her casket bearers: Robert Dobratz, Brian Schubert, Jerry Schubert, Jon Narr, Gene Narr, and Jesse Narr.

Honorary casket bearers were her granddaughters: Beth Baumann, Betty Jopp, Bobbi Jo Kadrie, Delilah Ownbey, Renae Schubert, Cindy Dobratz, Wendy Narr, and Danielle Engel.
