Shizue (Sue) Iketani Patterson, age 85, of Dassel, died Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at the Lakeside Apartments in Dassel.
She was born Oct. 8, 1930, in Japan, the daughter of Miyaichi and Fuku Iketani. Shizue grew up in Ushihama Fussa-shi Tokyo, Japan area.
She was united in marriage to Dale Arden Patterson Jan. 24, 1967, at the United States Embassy in Tokyo, Japan. The couple made their home in Maryland, before moving to Delavan, MN in 1969, and then to Dassel in 1988.
Sue worked as a waitress for many years in Japan. She was employed at the Red Rooster Café in Dassel for several years as a dishwasher.
A kind and generous person, Sue had volunteered at the Lakeside Health Care Center for over 20 years. She loved to take care of people and had a generous heart. She will be missed by those who loved her.
Sue is survived by her brother, Motosuke Iketani of Japan; brother-in-law Edward Patterson of Delavan; nephew Gregory Patterson of Delavan; son-in-law Dave Schuster of Delavan; granddaughter Alycia Johnson of Granada; niece Shammarie Cummines of Waconia; and special friends, Hiroko and Mel Sailor of Spring Lake Park, Rachel and Joseph Latt, Madison and Ethan Mayer, and Elaine and Dennis Ashburn, all of Dassel.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale July 16, 2014; her daughter, Kathleen Schuster Dec. 16, 1990; her parents; two sisters; and one brother.
A private interment service will take place at a later date.
The Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel is handling the arrangements.
