Fanchon Darlene (Erickson) Radtke, age 88, of Lester Prairie, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 23, 2016, at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.
She was born Nov. 22, 1927, in Brook Park, MN, the daughter of Nickolia and Selma (Johnson) Erickson. Fanchon was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Brook Park, and confirmed in the Catholic faith June 30, 1994, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted.
Fanchon grew up and received her education at a country school in Brook Park.
She was united in marriage to Raymond Radtke May 20, 1954, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. The couple made their home in Lester Prairie.
Fanchon and Raymond’s marriage was blessed with nine children, Renee, Jesse, Charlie, Yolanda, Robin, Stephanie, Lucinda, Rawelin and Jennifer. They shared over 38 years of marriage until Raymond passed away March 17, 1993.
In addition to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and homemaker, Fanchon worked at 3M in Hutchinson, and Tonka Toys in Mound.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted.
Fanchon was free-spirited, with many artistic talents. She enjoyed painting, decorating, sewing, gardening, country and gospel music, western movies, going for drives, fishing, and looking after her grandchildren. She lived life to the fullest and was always on the go.
Fanchon always had time for her family. She was loved for “her” sense of humor, and was known for her jokes. Fanchon touched the lives of many people and was so good to everyone.
She is survived by her children, Renee Kauffman of Lester Prairie, Charlie Radtke (Sandy) of Winsted, Yolanda Lenzen (Lonnie) of Red Oak, TX, Robin Kerkvliet (Frank) of Lester Prairie, Stephanie Radtke of Winsted, Lucinda Radtke of Chanhassen, Rawelin “Rollie” Radtke (Kim) of Lester Prairie, and Jennifer Gilbertson (John) of Waconia; grandchildren Karen Nowak, Ben Berry, Billy Berry, Tonia Simonson, Bradley Radtke, Brooke Young, Danielle Cullen, Chad Kerkvliet, Neil Kerkvliet, Amanda Poppy, Spencer Radtke, Madisyn Radtke, and Justine Gilbertson; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives, and many friends.
In addition to her husband, Raymond, Fanchon was preceded in death by her parents, Nickolia and Selma Erickson; a son, Jesse Collins; and a grandson, Dane Schultz.
Mass of Christian Burialtook place Monday, June 27 at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted, followed by interment at Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery in Winsted. Father Paul Schumacher officiated at the funeral services, and Alice Nowak was the organist. Musical selections were “In The Garden,” “Amazing Grace,” “How Great Thou Art,” and “On Eagle’s Wings.”
Casket bearers were Ben Berry, Billy Berry, Bradley Radtke, Chad Kerkvliet, Neil Kerkvliet, and Spencer Radtke.
