Thomas J. Redmond, age 77, of Delano, a lifetime resident of Wright County, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2016.
He was born April 2, 1938, to Elmo (Red founder of Red’s Cafe in Montrose) Redmond and Gertrude (Birdie) Loch.
A graduate of Buffalo High School, Tom worked at Washington Scientific until his retirement.
Though unable to enlist in the armed forces, Tom was an ardent supporter of veterans and their causes.
He married the love of his life, Susan Gonsior Sept. 21, 1957, at St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Delano. Tom and Susie were blessed with three children: Steve, Michael, and Pauline.
As well as being a devoted family man, Tom maintained many friendships with people he met in his life. He enjoyed history, especially of his own family.
Tom loved to have political discussions, even if he was wrong. Music was also an important part of his life. Irish (Celtic) music had a special place in his heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and infant brother.
Tom is survived by his wife, Susie; children Dr. Steve (Sheryl) Redmond, Michael (Steven Ukasick), and Pauline (Tom) Thaemert; and five grandchildren: Paul Thaemert, Jacqueline (Colin Lesnar), Rachel (Josh Anderson), and Sean and Arthur Redmond.
The funeral service took place Saturday, March 19, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church in Delano, followed by interment in Calvary Cemetery in Delano.
There was visitation from 9 to 11 a.m. in Martha’s Hall of St. Peter Catholic Church, prior to Mass.
Memorials preferred to Crossroads Animal Shelter in Buffalo.
The Iten Funeral Home in Delano handled the arrangements.
