Robert J. Reese Obituary – 2/28/2016


Robert J. “Bob” Reese, age 67, of Delano, passed away Sunday, Feb. 28, 2016, at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.

He was born March 18, 1948, in Graceville, MN, the son of James and Elvira (Draves) Reese.

Bob was united in marriage to Ann M. Snicker Sept. 4, 1971, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Mound.

Bob enjoyed spending time with family, and his grandchildren meant the world to him. His hobbies included hunting with family and friends, spending time at the cabin, fishing with children and grandchildren, playing cards, Yahtzee, and chess; listening to music, and watching “Scooby Doo.”

Bob excelled in pitching baseball, and pitched for the Army Berlin Bears.

He never treated anyone as an acquaintance; everyone was family. His favorite pastimes were cutting lawns with his tractor, and driving his golf cart.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, James and Elvira Reese; sisters Carol Andrews and Patricia Baggs; brothers Michael Reese and John Reese; father-in-law and mother-in-law Sylvester and Marian Snicker; brother-in-law David ‘Pal’ Snicker; and sister-in-law Edie Snicker.

Bob is survived by his loving family: wife Ann Reese; daughters and son-in-law Jennifer and Bill Coppin of Watertown, and Melanie Reese of Monticello; grandchildren Hanna Allen, Cassidy Coppin, Brooke Coppin, Michael Coppin, and Shawn Robert Coppin; sisters Sandy (Cam) Hedstrom of Andover, and Mary Koepp of Hinckley; brothers David (Anna) Reese of Cokato, and Lee Shergold of England; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Tom and Julie Snicker of Mayer, Jim Snicker of Hugo, Mary and Larry Hartmann of South Haven, and Maggie and Jim Grosshuesch of Maple Plain; step mother-in-law Georgia Snicker of Buffalo; special friend (brother) Garry Danks of Osseo; beloved pets Honey and Dusty; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

A memorial service took place Saturday, March 5 at 11 a.m. at Westpointe Church in Delano with the Rev. Paul Risdall officiating. There was a gathering of family and friends Friday, March 4 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the church; and Saturday, one hour prior to the service.

Honorary pallbearers were Garry Danks, Adam Danks, Philip Reese, David Reese, Charity Simmons, Heather Pererva, Max Purdue, and Kyle Tipton.

Memorials may be directed to Love Inc-Heartland, Delano; and St. Jude Research Hospital.
