Ida Eva Schaefer, age 94, of Buffalo, formerly of Marty, died Friday, Jan. 29, 2016, at Park View Care Center in Buffalo.
She was born July 1, 1921, in Marty, to Charles and Ida (Schreiber) Schneider. Ida grew up, and lived her entire life in Marty.
She was united in marriage to Vernon Douglas Schaefer Nov. 24, 1945, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Marty. Their union was blessed with five children, 24 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.
Ida was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, and the Christian Mothers. She enjoyed crocheting blankets for her grandchildren, baking, preparing family meals, and spending time with friends, family and grandchildren.
Ida is survived by her children and their spouses: Ida and John Kelsey of North Aurora, IL, Virginia and Thomas Triplett of Delano, Steven and Roberta Schaefer of O’Fallon, IL, Michael and Jeannie Schaefer of Buffalo, and Ellen and Charles Lett of Springfield, MO; brother and his spouse, Gregor and Juletta Schneider of St. Cloud; 22 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Ida Schneider; husband Vernon Schaefer; grandsons Joseph Triplett and Josh Kelsey; and brothers Alexander and Alfred Schneider.
Mass of Christian Burial took place Tuesday, Feb. 2 at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Pearl Lake, with Fr. Ronald Weyrens as the celebrant. Julene Faber-Andrusick provided the music for the service. Burial followed at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.
There was visitation Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.; and one hour prior to the funeral, Tuesday, at the church.
Casket bearers will be Ida’s grandchildren.
