William Seefeldt, Jr., 76

William Carl “Bill Seefeldt, Jr., age 76, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson with his family by his side.

He was born Nov. 22, 1939, in Darwin, the son of William Sr. and Ethel (Lewerenz) Seefeldt.

Bill was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Darwin.

He received his education at country school in Ellsworth Township, and then went on to further his education.

Bill served his country in the military from 1958 to 1960 in Germany.

He was united in marriage to Janet Spletter June 9, 1962, at Faith Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. This marriage was blessed with two children, Lori and William.

Bill and Janet lived in Minneapolis, and then moved to William’s home place farm outside Darwin. They resided on the farm for 49 years, until Bill entered Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson.

Bill and Janet shared 54 years of marriage together.

Bill farmed, was employed at 3M, and had his own tractor trailer. He retired from Hutchinson Technology Incorporated (HTI), and in his later years, dabbled in acting.

A unique man who loved life, Bill’s family was very important to him and he often talked about his family, especially his grandchildren.

He was a member of All Saints Lutheran Church in Darwin for 39 years.

In his younger years, Bill loved hunting and fishing. As time went on, he enjoyed being outside, gardening, mowing lawn, tinkering, and fixing anything he could. He also enjoyed going for coffee with his wife, Janet, and visiting with friends and family.

Bill was the best storyteller ever, and with his great sense of humor, made people laugh. He enjoyed being around people and could start a conversation with anybody at any time. He loved to read, especially about herbs and medicines, and he enjoyed educating others on his findings.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William Sr. and Ethel Seefeldt; a son in infancy; sister, Laura Servin and her husband, Orville; nephews, Tim Werner, Corey Pittmann, and Bart Servin; sisters-in-law Margie Flann and her husband, Marilyn, and Sharry Flann; and many other relatives and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Janet, of Hutchinson; two children, Lori (Brian) Brown of Hutchinson, and William Seefeldt III of Darwin; seven grandchildren: Carl Karg and his special friend, Sarah Wood, of Williston, ND, Elliot Karg and his wife, Tessa, Gabe Karg and his wife, Kendra, all of Tioga, ND; William Seefeldt IV, Brenda Seefeldt, Benjamin Seefeldt, and Brianna Seefeldt, all of Darwin; great-grandchildren Briah and Kylah Karg of Tioga, ND, and Lawler Karg, expected to arrive in January 2017; sisters: Lois Werner and her husband, Dale, of Battle Lake, LuAnn Anderson and her husband, Orville, of Dassel, and Linda Evans and her husband, Ron, of Florida; a brother, Ron Seefeldt and his wife, Wendy, of Dasse; brother-in-law Dennis Flann of Lake Lillian; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
