Hannah Severson Obituary – 1/12/2016


Hannah C. Severson, age 88, of Cokato passed away at the Cokato Manor Jan. 12, 2016.

She was born Oct. 7, 1927 in Irving Township, to Ben and Ellen (Hanson) Jordin.

Hannah grew up in Spicer, and graduated from Willmar High School.

She was united in marriage to Orville Severson. They made their home near Howard Lake, and eventually settled south of Cokato.

This union was blessed with the births of Reggie, Bruce, and Kevin

Hannah enjoyed quilting, sewing, fishing, gardening, canning, baking, crocheting, her family, and the church.

She is fondly remembered for her lefsa, pecan pie, sparkling eyes, and infectious smile.

They attended St John’s Lutheran Church in Howard Lake, and later they attended Mt. Zion Lutheran church in Tucson, AZ.

Hannah was a Sunday school teacher, and very active in the quilting ministry in both churches.

Hannah is survived by her children, Kevin (Pam) and Bruce (Diane), five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren, along with many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

Hannah was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Reggie; brother; and sister.

A celebration of her life will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 23 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Howard Lake.

A time of gathering will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 22 at Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home in Cokato, and continue one hour prior to the service at church.
