Jeremy Robert Thiel, age 34, of Hutchinson, formerly of Lester Prairie, passed away Sunday, Aug. 21, 2016, at the Marie Steiner Kelting Hospice House in Chaska.
He was born July 16, 1982, in Glencoe, the son of Charles “Chuck” Thiel and Lawrie (Halligan) Truman. Jeremy was baptized on the day he was born, and a month later a Sponsorial Service took place at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie to celebrate his baptism. He was later confirmed in his faith as a youth at the same church.
Jeremy received his education in Lester Prairie, and was a graduate of the Lester Prairie High School class of 2000.
He was united in marriage to Dena Hass Aug. 23, 2008, at Veteran’s Memorial Park in Hutchinson. Jeremy and Dena resided in Hutchinson, and shared almost eight years of marriage.
Jeremy held employment as a sales associate at Walmart in Hutchinson.
He was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie.
Jeremy enjoyed gaming, and watching movies. He was an avid sports fan; his favorite teams were the Minnesota Vikings, Minnesota Twins, and the Minnesota Wild. He also liked to go camping, ride bike, and go fishing. He loved spending time with his wife, friends, and family.
Jeremy is survived by his wife, Dena Thiel; and their dog, Abigail, of Hutchinson; father, Charles “Chuck” Thiel of Lester Prairie; mother, Lawrie Truman and her husband, Patrick of Hermantown; siblings Jason Thiel and his wife, Mary of Bloomington, and Jamison Erickson and her husband, Nathan of Winsted; sister-in-law Kristin Werner and her husband, Jason, of Montevideo; parents-in-law Terry and Carla Hass of Maynard, MN; nephews Jacob Thiel, Noah Thiel, and Benjamin Thiel; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Albert and Erna Thiel, and Robert and Barbara Halligan; grandparents-in-law Duane and Betty Hass, and Edward and Johanna Reinholt; and dog, Zoey.
Funeral services took place Saturday, Aug. 27 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie, followed by interment in the church cemetery. The Rev. Eric Nelson officiated at the services. Lynn Mueller was the organist. Soloist Craig Hebrink sang “Morning Has Broken.” Special music was “Go Rest High on That Mountain” by Vince Gill. Congregational hymns were “Amazing Grace,” “How Great Thou Art,” and “On Eagle’s Wings.”
There was visitation at the Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson Friday, Aug. 26 from 4 to 8 p.m. Visitation continued Saturday at the church, two hours prior to the service.
Casket bearers were Andrew McLain, Tim Pfeil, Tim Duesterhoeft, Mitch Stockman, Jacob Willers, and Ryan Schwarze. Nephews Jacob Thiel, Noah Thiel, and Benjamin Thiel were honorary bearers.
