Edith Kathleen Margaret (Monson) Waller, age 69, of McAllen, TX, formerly of Dassel, passed away March 1, 2016, in McAllen.
Kathleen was born Feb. 26, 1947, to Evan and Pauline (Peg Haglund) Monson. She was confirmed in her faith at First Lutheran Church (Gethsemane) in Dassel June 10, 1962.
She graduated from Dassel High School in 1965, and then attended Bemidji State College.
Kathleen was united in marriage to Gale R. Carlson Sept. 17, 1966, at First Lutheran Church in Dassel. This union was blessed with twin boys, Jason Andrew and Jarrit William, June 4, 1968; and a daughter, Margaret Jennifer, born Feb. 19, 1972.
A talented lady who worked in advertising most of her career, Kathleen later became a licensed substance and alcohol counselor.
Upon her retirement, she and her special friend of many years, Allen Heveron, moved to McAllen, TX, in 2010.
Kathleen was an accomplished photographer of nature and especially, of her grandchildren. She loved to travel and make new friends. A wonderful mother, grandmother, and good friend to many, Kathleen will be missed.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jennifer; her parents, Evan and Pauline; and a granddaughter, Lia Leri.
Kathleen is survived by her sons, Jarrit (and Kate) Carlson of Rapid City, SD, and Jason (and Rachel Probst) Carlson of Arlington, VA; her special friend of many years, Allen Heveron; grandchildren, Jenna, Evan, Rachel, April, Chase, Cohen, Kasson, Kohen and Keaton; a great-grandson, Tristan; and her brothers, Bill Monson of Minneapolis, and Blaire (and Lori) Monson of Dassel.
A celebration of Kathleen’s life took place Saturday, March 5 in McAllen, TX. A double graveside service took place Sunday, July 24 at 1 p.m. at Dassel Cemetery for both Kathleen, and her granddaughter, Lia Leri. The Rev. Dan Belgrem-Blad officiated.
