Valerie Wright Obituary – 2/27/2016


Valerie Marie (Maas) Anderson Wright, age 97, of Delano, passed away Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will take place Saturday, March 12 at 11 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church in Delano, with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m., prior to Mass, in Martha’s Hall of St. Peter Catholic Church.

Arrangements are with the Iten Funeral Home in Delano.

Valerie was born March 31, 1918, in Shakopee, to Charles and Ann (Schultz) Maas.

Family was the most important part of Valerie’s life. She loved babies and children. She also loved to dance – with or without music.

She was preceded in death by husbands Gordon Anderson and Vernon Wright; parents; sisters Joyce Otto, and Delores Poliwoda; and brothers Leon, Russ, and Lloyd Maas.

Grateful that she is at peace, but missing her greatly are her son, David Anderson (Mickey); daughter Diane McGrath Mechelke (Robin); five grandchildren: Brett Anderson (Stephanie), Todd McGrath (Sara), Tory McGrath (Erin), Tiffany McGrath (James Tainter), and Dawn Cotterman (David); and 11 great-grandchildren: Audrey and Sophie Anderson, Alana, June and Keefer McGrath, Jackson and Rhys McGrath, Albert Tainter, and Bennett, Josephine and William Cotterman.

Valerie is also survived by her sisters, Lucille Styrbicky, Janice VanLith Ruhr, and Donna Leick; and brothers-in-law Harry Poliwoda, and George Otto.
