Lorraine Bernice Anderson, age 92, of Cokato, passed away Saturday, May 13, 2017, at the St. Cloud Hospital, after heart surgery.
She was born Sept. 27, 1924, in Minneapolis, to Alex and Della (Asmund) Hamari.
The family lived in Minneapolis until Lorraine was 10 years old, then moved to New York Mills, where Lorraine graduated from high school.
After high school, Lorraine moved back to Minneapolis, where she worked as a waitress, and then as a payroll clerk at Leaf Brothers. She also worked for a time for the Sheet Metal Workers Union as a payroll clerk.
Lorraine married Andrew Daniel Anderson Aug. 30, 1945, in Minneapolis. To this union, six children were born.
The couple made their home in Minneapolis first, then, in 1955, moved to Bethel, where they stayed for 43 years, and finally to Cokato.
Lorraine enjoyed birds, and did a little rug weaving and puzzles. She had a wonderful sense of humor, and most of all, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
She volunteered for 13 years at Wright County Community Action in Waverly.
Lorraine is survived by her children: Barbara (John) Lehto of Cokato, Les Anderson of Gladstone, OR, Karen (Tom) Aho of Cokato, Dave (Sylvia) Anderson of Virginia, MN, and Bob (Ruth) Anderson of Cokato; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a brother, Roy Hamari of Palm Springs, CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Della; husband, Andrew; a brother, Clarion; a son, Fred Anderson; and a grandson, Dane Anderson.
Lorraine’s funeral service took place Wednesday, May 17 at 2 p.m. at First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Dassel, with interment at Cokato Finnish Cemetery
Arrangements were by Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home in Cokato.
