James S. Barth Obituary – 6/13/2017


James Stansberry Barth, age 73, of Buffalo, passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2017.

He was born June 30, 1943, in Minneapolis, the son of Albert and Margaret (Ditmore) Barth.

James graduated from Howard Lake Public High School in 1961.

He honorably served in the Army during Vietnam.

He attended Highway Patrol School, graduating in 1967. James retired from the State Patrol after 31 years of service.

James Barth and Echo Erickson were united in marriage June 15, 1968, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly, by Father Hermes.

James belonged to the Sons of the American Revolution, Buffalo American Legion Post 270, past commander of Howard Lake American Legion Post #145, and past Shriner.

He enjoyed painting, reading, playing Chinese checkers, debating, cooking, and entertaining his family and friends.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Margaret Barth.

He is survived by his wife, Echo Barth; children, Matthew (Kim) Barth and Melissa Barth; grandchildren, Sebastian, Owen, Megan, and Aaron; and many siblings, other family, and friends.

Per the family’s wishes, no services will take place.

Memorials in James’ name may be sent to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
