Betty Olson Boreen, age 89, of Dassel, died Friday, May 12, 2017, at the Augustana Lakeside Health Care Center of Dassel.
She was born March 22, 1928, in Toledo, OH.
Betty was baptized and later confirmed in the Christian faith, and was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Dassel at the time of her death.
She grew up in Dassel, and graduated from the Dassel High School in 1946.
Betty was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Earl Boreen in 1947, at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Dassel. The couple made their home in Faribault for several years before moving back to the Dassel area in 1967.
Betty had been employed as a nurse in Faribault, and at Lakeside Nursing Home in Dassel, retiring from nursing in 1989.
She had been an active member of her church family, was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in both Faribault and Dassel, and had helped with many school functions and activities in both Faribault and Dassel.
Betty enjoyed painting, ceramics, crocheting, sewing, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, and walking with her black Lab “Buddy.”
She is survived by her daughters, Wendy Isakson of Dassel, and Linda Boreen of St. Louis Park; grandson Jess Isakson of Dassel; and one brother, Donald Olson of Grand Rapids.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Bob in 2010; her mother, Hazel; a brother, Jack Olson; and her son-in-law, John Isakson.
Betty’s funeral service took place Tuesday, May 16 at 6 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel, with Sheldon Hedin officiating at the service. The interment of the urn will take place at Lake Arvilla Cemetery in rural Dassel at a later date.
There was a time to gather with the family one hour prior to the service.
The Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel handled the arrangements.
