Estella A. Fogarty, 78

Estella Ann “Stella” Fogarty, age 78, of Lester Prairie, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 6, 2017, in hospice at a daughter’s home in Silver Lake.

She was born Sept. 23, 1938, in Graettinger, IA, the daughter of James R. and Evelyn M. (Hereim) Martin.

Estella was joined in holy marriage with Joseph E. “Joe” Fogarty April 2, 1956, in Lyle, MN. God blessed their marriage with eight children.

Stella was formerly employed as a nurse’s aide at Alice Haney Home in Lester Prairie, and at Glencoe Long Term Care Center. She was also a nurse at Burn’s Manor in Hutchinson.

She was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted, and belonged to its Council of Catholic Women.

Stella enjoyed crocheting, watching the Twins and Vikings, playing computer games and cards, and fishing with her husband. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren!

She is survived by her children: Sherry (Gene) Ide of Garrison, ND, Jim (Rita) Fogarty of Inver Grove Heights, Kathy (Joe) Justus of Menomonie, WI, Nancy (Tom) Radtke, and Pat (Brenda) Fogarty, all of Silver Lake, Mike (Sharon) Fogarty of Auburn, WA, Michele Fogarty of Silver Lake, and Kari Fogarty of Lester Prairie; grandchildren Krista (Jeff) Myers; Robert Fogarty, David Fogarty; Katie (Matt) Strauss, Martin (Jana) Justus, James Justus; Mitchell (Sara) Radtke, Myles Radtke; Jessica Fogarty, Felicia Fogarty, Colin Fogarty; Joseph Fogarty, Erin Fogarty and Stephanie (Jason) Schmidt; and great-grandchildren Danica, Lynde and Nora Myers; Carter, EmmaJo and Leo Strauss; Stella and Quinn Justus; Cadence and Frederick Anderson Jr., and Mya Schmidt.

Stella is further survived by brothers and sisters: James and Peter Martin, Mary (Clifford) Egland, and Evelyn Martin; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph “Joe” Fogarty; her parents; a brother, Ronald Martin; a sister, Theresa Nitchals; and a sister-in-law, Alice Martin.

A Mass of Christian Burial took place Wednesday, April 12 at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted, with Father Paul Schumacher as the celebrant. Interment followed at Holy Trinity Cemetery.

There was visitation Tuesday, April 11 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted, with a rosary recited at 5 p.m., and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continued Wednesday at the funeral home from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.

Stella’s grandsons were her casket bearers: Robert Fogarty, Martin Justus, Joseph Fogarty, Mitchell Radtke, Myles Radtke, James Justus, David Fogarty, and Colin Fogarty.
