Robert Paul Friederichsen, age 80, of Buffalo, went to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2017, following a four-year battle with cancer.
A memorial service will take place Saturday, Aug. 26 at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo, with visitation at the church one hour prior.

Robert was born in Grand Rapids, MI to the Rev. Paul and Kay Friederichsen, missionary parents. He spent several years as a child with his missionary parents during World War II in the Philippines in Japanese prison camps.
Robert graduated from Oakland, CA high school, then went on to graduate from Bethel College in St. Paul with a master’s degree in art.
He married his college sweetheart, Cleo Munson, of Howard Lake, in 1959.
Robert went on to teach art and photography at Penn State and Augsburg College until 1994. After retirement, he and Cleo ran a dog boarding kennel in Buffalo, until 2006, when they moved into the town of Buffalo.
Robert always put his faith in God first, and was active in many church projects throughout his life. He had many talents and interests including designing houses, art, photography, fixing Volkswagens, as well as fishing, hunting, and especially golfing later in life.
He will be loved and missed by Cleo, his wife of 58 years; his brother, Doug Friederichsen; children Mark Friederichsen of Becker, Stephen Friederichsen (Lisa) of St. Louis Park, and Karen Mammano (Sam) of Webster, NY; grandchildren Paul, Andy, and Luke; and many other family and friends.
