Alfred Casper Habisch, age 87, of Sturgeon Lake, MN, passed away Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017, at Mercy Hospital in Moose Lake.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place Friday, March 3 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted, followed by interment in the church cemetery.
There will be visitation beginning at 9 a.m. March 3, at Holy Trinity Church.
Alfred was born Dec. 4, 1929, in Winsted, to Frank and Elizabeth Laxen Habisch.
He was joined in matrimony to Shirley Mae Paulson Jan. 7, 1950, in Litchfield. Their marriage was blessed with eight children.
Alfred lived and worked in Winsted for many years, and then moved to Sturgeon Lake, where he resided until his death.
He served in the Army from 1951-1953. Alfred did his basic training at Fort Lewis in Washington state, before being stationed in Germany for 18 months during the Korean War.
Alfred had a love for fishing and hunting. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, and always kept in touch with family and friends, while keeping everyone giggling with his jokes on Facebook.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; two daughters, Jeanne (Terry) Binder, and Michelle Habisch; three sons, Frank (Debra) Habisch, Anthony Habisch, and Joseph (Debby) Habisch; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; six step grandchildren and 13 step great-grandchildren.
Alfred was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Elizabeth Habisch; son, Steven Habisch; two infant sons, Joseph Alfred Habisch, and Baby Boy (Joseph) Habisch; and siblings Ed Habisch, Carl Habisch, Henry Habisch, Joseph Habisch, Agnes Carlson, Maggie Hausladen, Isabelle Wiemiller, Mary Kruger, Rosella Remer, and Clara Kieser.
