Allen G. Hastings, 65

Allen G. Hastings, age 65, of Dassel, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at St. Cloud Hospital, surrounded by family.

A memorial service will take place Monday, April 10 at 11 a.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel, with Pastor Mark G. McCalib officiating.

Allen was united in Marriage to Carrie Anderson in 1980. Together, Allen and Carrie made their home in the St. Peter area, and had two beautiful girls, Michelle and Sharon. After several years, their marriage ended, and Allen moved back to the Dassel area.

Allen was united in marriage to Randa Paulson in 1994, in Litchfield. Allen and Randa made Dassel their home. They continued to build their family, welcoming their son, Riley, in 1994, and their daughter, Meriah, in 1997.

Allen was always a hard worker and a provider for his family. He had worked at Minnesota Hatchery, Payco Seed, and for the past 23 years, at Porta Dock in Dassel, retiring in October 2016.

Allen took great pride in caring for his children, and ensuring his family was always taken care of. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandkids, and enjoyed keeping himself busy and being outdoors, always looking for a project to take on.

Allen was an avid Vikings fan and enjoyed spending his Sundays watching football with his family. When there wasn’t ice on the lake, you could find him casting a line on Big Swan. He also enjoyed shaking dice and playing cards with his family and siblings.

Allen is survived by his wife, Randa of Dassel; children Michelle (Byron) Dent of Cleveland, MN, Sharon Hastings of St. Peter, Riley Hastings of Dassel, and Meriah Hastings of Litchfield; step-children Clayton Laskow of Litchfield, Stacy Laskow of Hutchinson, Nicole Laskow of Milaca, and Kimberly Laskow of Cokato; and nine grandchildren,

He is further survived by siblings Michael Hastings Sr. of Annandale, Ronald (Rebecca) Hastings of Dassel, and Gene Hastings of Annandale; sister in-law Barbara Hastings of St. Paul; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Allen was preceded in death by his parents, Harland and Selma Hastings; brother Dennis Hastings; sister Sharon Hastings; and sister-in-law Pat Hastings.
