Conrad “Connie” Joseph Hausladen, age 66, of Lester Prairie, passed away Monday, Jan. 9, 2017, at his home.
He was born March 13, 1950, in Wayzata, the son of Joseph and Hildegard (Remer) Hausladen. Conrad was baptized as an infant March 19, 1950; and confirmed in his Catholic faith as a youth June 9, 1958, both at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly.
Conrad received his education in Waverly, graduating with the St. Mary’s Catholic School class of 1968.
He entered active military service in the United States Army Sept. 6, 1970, and served his country during the Vietnam War. Honorably discharged June 14, 1971, Conrad then completed his obligation in the Army Reserve as a cook until honorably discharged April 30, 1974.
Conrad was united in marriage to Susan Houser Dec. 17, 1971, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly. The couple made their home in Watertown, Lester Prairie, and Silver Lake, and then, in 2003, returned to Lester Prairie.
Conrad and Susan’s marriage was blessed with four sons, Anthony, Jeremy, John and Matthew; and they shared over 45 years of marriage.
Conrad worked at Lester’s Inc., Remer Construction, Littfin Lumber Company, and RAM Buildings Inc. as a carpenter until 2007, when he retired.
He was a member at Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake.
Conrad was also a member of the Lester Prairie Volunteer Fire Department from 1972 to 1978.
He loved spending his time helping others, doing farm work, fishing, woodworking, camping, playing cards, Beno, four-wheeling and making wine. Conrad enjoyed the time spent with his family and friends, especially making sausage with his sons and grandchildren for the past few years.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Hausladen of Lester Prairie; sons, Anthony “Tony” Hausladen and his wife, Carolyn, of Glencoe, Jeremy Hausladen and his wife, Carrie, of Hutchinson, John Hausladen and his wife, Joanie, of Mankato, and Matthew “Matt” Hausladen of Hutchinson; grandchildren Dominic Boyd (Kayla Boeson), Tyler Hausladen, Josephine Stai (Jake), Sydney Hausladen, Megan Hausladen, Carter Hausladen, Zachary Hausladen, Landon Hausladen, Garrett Hausladen, and Mitchell Hausladen; and great-grandchildren Liam Boyd, and Thane Stai.
Conrad is further survived by siblings Kenny Hausladen and his wife, Beatie, Clarence Hausladen, Robert Hausladen and his wife, Mary Ann, Emmett Hausladen and his wife, Jane, Ann Dalheimer and her husband, John, Arnold Hausladen and his wife, Linda, Susan Heimerl and her husband, Duane, and Larry Hausladen; brothers-in-law Jim Outley, Glen Yager, Dennis Houser and his wife, Carol, and Dean Houser; sisters-in-law Candy Cardinal, and Linda Schwerin and her husband, Dale; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Hildegard Hausladen; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Wesley and Gladys Houser; and siblings, Marcel Hausladen, Bonnie Hausladen, Mildred Hausladen, Betty Kittock and her husband, Jerome, Doris Outley, and Jean Yager.
Mass of Christian Burial took place Friday, Jan. 13 at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake, with interment following in the church cemetery. There was visitation from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church, two hours prior to the Mass.
Arrangements were with the Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel in Lester Prairie.
