Matt D. Hoese, age 58, of Deland, FL, formerly of Mayer, passed away Saturday, June 24, 2017, in Florida.
He was born Feb. 2, 1959, in Watertown, the son of Donald and Karen (Emich) Hoese.
Matt attended school in Watertown, and graduated in 1977.
Being a Jack-of-all-trades, he mastered skills in many different fields, finally creating his own welding business, which eventually relocated him to Florida.
Throughout the years of his life, Matt made many friendships. Whether it be discussing job plans with clients or recapping the latest NASCAR race with fellow fans, his larger-than-life attitude, as well as his infectious laugh, made a lasting impression on everyone he met.
To say that Matt was hardworking would be an understatement; he devoted his life to his work, and would offer a helping hand to anyone in need. The sight of him in his “big yellow truck” will be greatly missed.
Matt was preceded in death by his father, Donald Hoese.
He is survived by his loving family: son Clay Hoese of Watertown; daughters Kiley Hoese and fiancé Beau Schmidt, and Madyson Hoese, all of Watertown; mother Karen Hoese of Mayer; sisters and brothers-in-law DeAnn and John Danowski of Phoenix, AZ, Patty and John Farber of Waverly, and Jackie and Kenny Swartzer of New Germany; uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A memorial service took place Saturday, July 1 at 2 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia with the Rev. Lucas Woodford officiating. There was a gathering of family and friends from noon until the time of the service at the funeral home; interment was in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Mayer.
