Wallace Fredrich Hoese, age 95, of Mayer, passed away Friday, Oct. 6, 2017, at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
He was born March 12, 1922, in Watertown Township of Carver County, the son of Edward and Martha (Hill) Hoese. Wallace was baptized April 2, 1922, at Zion Lutheran Church in Mayer, by the Rev. Erthal; and confirmed his faith in the Lord April 6, 1936 at Zion Lutheran Church with Rev. Erthal as officiant.
Wallace attended the Zion Lutheran School, and was a graduate of the Watertown High School.
He was united in marriage with Dolores Schrupp June 26, 1943, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Young America with Rev. Kramer as officiant. This union of 74 years was blessed with four children: Terry, Bruce, Dale, and Debra.
Wallace was a dedicated farmer all of his life. Planting and harvesting seasons were his favorites, and he was very proud that he was still able to drive the combine at age 92.
He enjoyed working alongside his wife and children taking care of the animals and working in the fields. A good day always included a drive through the country to look at the crops.
Wallace’s love for his Savior was shown by his faithful attendance at church and Bible classes, and how he conducted himself every day. He had served at the Zion Lutheran Church as council president, elder, and school board member. God’s mercies were with him through many illnesses, and for that he was always thankful.
Wallace enjoyed polka dancing, and would love to attend an afternoon dance whenever he and Dolores could get away from the farming duties. He enjoyed visiting with family and friends, and cherished the time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Martha Hoese; infant brother John Hoese; brothers Oswald Hoese, Leonard Hoese and Edward Hoese Jr.; father-in-law and mother-in-law William and Emma Schrupp; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Harold and Verdilla Kuntz, Lawrence and Ruth Belter, and Maynard and Dorothy Schrupp.
Wallace is survived by his loving family: wife Dolores Hoese of Mayer; children the Rev. Terry (Shirley) Hoese of Grand Rapids, MI, Bruce (Judy) Hoese of Mayer, Dale (Luann) Hoese of Watertown, and Debra (Rick) Amundson of Shakopee; grandchildren Brad (Ofelia) Hoese, Dana (Matthew) Agnew, Todd (Roxanne) Hoese, Tara (J. He is further survived by sisters-in-law Elaine Hoese of Mayer, Frances Hoese of Glencoe, and Marjorie Hoese of Waconia; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
The funeral service took place Wednesday, Oct. 11 at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Mayer with the Revs. Lucas Woodford and Adam Gless as officiants. Interment was in the church cemetery.
