Janice Ann Lundin, age 86, of Dassel, died Monday, Jan. 2, 2017, at the Augustana Lakeside Health Care Center of Dassel.
She was born April 21, 1930, in Collinwood Township, Meeker County, to Gerhard “George” and Anna Elizabeth (Nelson) Lundin.
She was baptized and confirmed, and an active member all of her life at the Lamson Evangelical Free Church in Dassel.
Janice attended Collins School through the eighth grade, and graduated with the Dassel High School class of 1948.
In July of 1950, she received her teacher’s credentials from St. Cloud Teacher’s College; and from the fall of 1950 to the summer of 1952, she taught elementary school in Cokato.
She then went to Trinity Seminary and Bible College. After completing her course work in 1953, she went to the Belgian Congo to teach missionary children of the Evangelical Free Church and the Mission Covenant for three and one-half years.
Upon her return, Janice again studied at St. Cloud, completing her degree in 1961. That fall, she began teaching elementary school in Mound.
She retired in the spring of 1989, and made her home in Dassel.
Janice had a great sense of humor, loved to travel, and was a talented photographer. She was also a loving caretaker for her father, her aunt, Esther Lundin; and her cousin, Dorothy Latt until their deaths.
She is survived by her cousins on both sides of the family
Janice was preceded in death by her parents; and a baby sister.
Her funeral service took place Friday, Jan. 6 at 10 a.m. at the Lamson Evangelical Free Church in Dassel with Pastor Mike Newsom officiating, followed by interment at the Dassel City Cemetery.
There was visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.
The Johnson Funeral Home of Dassel handled the funeral arrangements.
