Jacquelyn Joan Marketon, age 79, of Howard Lake, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2017, at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.
She was born Oct. 29, 1937, in Fairfax, the daughter of Leo and Regina (Ecker) Jandl.
Jacquelyn attended St. Andrew’s Catholic School for eight years, and the Fairfax High School for four years, graduating in 1953. She then attended the St. Cloud School of Nursing, and graduated as a registered nurse in 1958.
Jacquelyn was united in marriage to Walter Francis Marketon June 20, 1959. Their marriage was blessed with three sons: Steven, Gary, and Gregory.
The family lived on Walter’s farm in Howard Lake, and Jackie was employed at the Buffalo Hospital.
Jackie and Walter were also foster parents for many years to many children.
They enjoyed life together, and traveled to many places like Austria, Germany, Switzerland, and France with Jacquelyn’s parents.
Jackie and Walter retired by Howard Lake in 1998.
They attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly, and enjoyed helping at their church.
Jacquelyn is survived by her husband, Walter F. Marketon; sons Steven (Paula) Marketon of Howard Lake, Gary (Jill) Marketon of Buffalo, and Gregory (Angie) Marketon of Rochester; four grandchildren: Amanda, Alyssa, Jessica, and Isabel Marketon; a brother, George (Joan) Jandl of Eden Prairie; sisters Virginia (Gary) Rogness of Rochester, and Kathleen (Hilary) Bianchi of Nicollet; other relatives, and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant sister, Jean Jandl; brother Jerome Jandl; and sister Rose Mary Sadler.
A Mass of Christian Burial took place Tuesday, Sept. 12 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly with Father Kenneth O’Hotto as the celebrant. Interment followed at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
There was visitation Monday, Sept. 11 from 4 to 8 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continued Tuesday at the church, one hour prior to Mass.
Casket bearers were Dan Marketon, Bill Marketon, Don Marketon, David Weldy, David Rogness, and Mark Jandl.
