Jill Marie Rygwall, age 48, of Princeton, formerly of the Dassel/Kingston area, passed away Friday, Oct. 13, 2017, with her husband, Chad Jeffery Rygwall, age 47, in an airplane accident over the Mississippi River near Ramsey.

Jill was born May 12, 1969, in Litchfield, to John and Maxine (Klammer) Rokala. She grew up in the Dassel/Kingston area, and graduated from Dassel-Cokato High School in 1987.

Jill went on to attend Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, graduating in 1991, with a degree in criminal justice. After college, she took a job at the US Marshall’s office in Minneapolis, and later worked at the Princeton School District as a special ed para.

Jill and Chad were married at North Crow River Lutheran Church, rural Cokato, May 7, 1994, with the Rev. Jeffrey Blank officiating. To this union, a son; Andrew Chadley Rygwall was born.

The family made their home in Fridley first, then Blaine, and finally Princeton.

They were truly outdoors people and did everything together; snowmobiling, fishing, deer hunting, flying, pontooning and boating. They enjoyed spending time at cabins, were animal lovers, enjoyed bonfires, and were Vikings fans.

Jill liked to read, and Chad was a swimmer and pilot with his own plane and hangar.

Jill and Chad are survived by their son, Andrew Chadley Rygwall.

In addition, Jill is survived by her parents, John and Maxine (Klammer) Rokala; brother Mark (Julie) Rokala, and their children, Henry and Lilly; brother Michael Rokala; and sister Jodi (Aladdin) Rokala Ghazi, and their children, Danyah, Kenan, Maya, Kassim, Lea.

Jill was preceded in death by her grandparents, Levi and Ina (Hasti) Rokala, and Ernest and Elvira (Hendrickson) Klammer.

In addition to his son, Chad is survived by his parents, Jeffrey and Judy Rygwall of Andover.

Visitation for Jill took place Saturday, Oct. 21 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Good Shepherd Free Lutheran Church in Cokato.

The Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home of Cokato handled the arrangements.

Visitation for Chad took place Monday, Oct. 23 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Evangelical Free Church in Princeton.
