Eldoris Schultz, 89

Eldoris H. Schultz, age 89, of Hollywood Township, New Germany, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at the Elim Home in Watertown.

She was born Dec. 4, 1927, in St. Paul, the daughter of Leonard and Hilda (Kohls) Litfin. Eldoris was baptized Dec. 13, 1927, in St. Paul, by the Rev. John Schumacher; and confirmed May 4, 1941, at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany, by the Rev. Theo Rolf.

She was united in marriage to Victor H. Schultz Dec. 30, 1944, at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany, by the Rev. John Meyer. The couple were married for 62 years.

Eldoris and Victor lived on the Ewald Schultz farm in Lester Prairie from 1944-1947. They then moved to New Germany to start up a small grocery store business, which they ran for approximately 11 years.

Eldoris was particularly knowledgeable in gardening, sewing, cooking, and playing cards. She was a 4-H leader for over nine years, and truly enjoyed coordinating the kids to compete in local talent shows, and escorting the winners to the Minnesota State Fair. She also planned many of the wiener roasts at Lake Mary.

Eldoris loved planting and caring for their big garden and lots of flowers. She also liked fishing with Victor, and traveling around the United States including visiting the states of Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Nevada, California, and Florida.

In 1963, they built a house in Hollywood Township, and after retirement, they also invested in a small cabin on Mille Lacs Lake.

Eldoris was preceded in death by her husband, Victor; parents Leonard and Hilda Litfin; daughter Linnea Stender; son Scott Schultz; granddaughter Chantal Schultz; grandson-in-law Ryan Gordon; brother and sister-in-law Leonard Jr. and Lucille Litfin; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Edna and Edwin Schultz, Lillian and Lorenz Bergman, Alma and Walter Rusch, Elmer and Corrine Schultz, Waldo Stender, Alice and Edward Lester, and Iris and Walter Schultz.

She is survived by her loving family: children: Dorinda (Curtis) Brown of Sacramento, CA, Brad (Vicki) Schultz of Mayer, Mardeen Schultz of San Marcos, CA, Laurie (David) Trende of Watertown, Jerry (Bonnie) Schultz of Waverly, and Julie (John) Jopp of Watertown; son-in-law James Stender of New Germany; 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Pearl Stender of Minnetonka; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

The funeral service took place Monday, April 3 at 11 a.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany with the Rev. LeRoy LaPlant officiating. There was visitation from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Casket bearers were Cory Schultz, Jamie Jopp, Tyler Trende, Dillon Derner, Cole Peters, and Brayden Snow.
