Eldora Stapel, 92

Eldora Ernstina Anna (Uecker) Stapel, age 92, of Lester Prairie, passed away Sunday, Sept. 24, 2017, at Hutchinson Health.

She was born Aug. 4, 1925, at home in Middleville Township, the daughter of Paul and Clara (Zeidler) Uecker. Eldora was baptized as an infant Aug. 30, 1925, by Pastor Streufert; and confirmed in her faith as a youth April 2, 1939, by Pastor W. D. Kanning, both at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Middleville.

Eldora received her GED and furthered her education by receiving her LPN license.

She was united in marriage to Hillard Stapel Oct. 19, 1944, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Middleville. Hillard and Eldora made their home on the Stapel family farm north of Lester Prairie. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Lana, Alan, and Nancy.

Eldora and Hillard shared almost 65 years of marriage, until Hillard passed away Oct. 12, 2009.

In addition to being a loving wife, mother, and homemaker, Eldora worked on the family farm, and also was a nurse.

She was an active member at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie.

Eldora was very creative, which showed in her love to bake cakes for birthdays, confirmations, and weddings. She also enjoyed sewing clothes and doll clothes.

Eldora cherished the time spent with her family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Lana Felderman and her husband, Marvin, of St. Cloud, Alan Stapel and his wife, Connie, of Lester Prairie, and Nancy Unglaub and her husband, Doug, of St. Cloud; grandchildren Josiah Laughlin and his wife, Sesha, Heather Felderman, John Stapel and his wife, Julie, Laura Buchanan and her husband, Peter, Brian Unglaub and his wife, Heidi, and Brad Unglaub; great-grandchildren Alexis Stapel, Cody Stapel, Audra Unglaub, and Lily Unglaub; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

In addition to her husband, Hillard, Eldora was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Clara Uecker; brother, Melvin Uecker; and sisters, Alice Geisinger, Erna Diers, and Viola Klemz.

Funeral services took place Thursday, Sept. 28 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie, followed by interment in the church cemetery The Rev. .Eric Nelson officiated at the services. Lynn Mueller was the organist, and congregational hymns were

Organist: “Amazing Grace,” “Have No Fear, Little Flock,” and “How Great Thou Art.”

Josiah Laughlin, and Rick Williamson were honorary casket bearers.

Casket bearers were Heather Felderman, Laura Buchanan, John Stapel, Brad Unglaub, Brian Unglaub, and Gerry Diers.

Arrangements were with the Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel of Lester Prairie.
