Alan John Blackwell, 74, of Mound, originally of Victoria, Australia, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2018.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Arlene; sister June McIntyre; and nephew Ian Blackwell.
Alan is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; children Andrew, Sherie (Brett Greenaway), and Michael; grandchildren Brydon, Jacqueline, Emily, Taleah, and Georgia; siblings Robert, Geoff, and Arlene; and other loving relatives.
Alan will be remembered as having an ethic of working hard, which stemmed from his childhood experience on his family farm and orchard in Australia, and from his engineering projects in Victoria and during his 40 years in Minnesota.
He enjoyed golfing, choir singing, harmonica playing, dancing, and mentoring others in various skills. Alan is mostly remembered as a knowledgeable conversationalist.
A Mass of Christian Burial took place Tuesday, Feb. 13 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Mound, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m.
The Huber Funeral & Cremation Service Mound Chapel handled the arrangements.
Memorials are preferred to Our Lady of the Lake Church, or the Gillespie Center.
