Anne Bowman Obituary – 8/8//2018


Antoinette “Anne” Marie Bowman, age 76, of Sioux Falls, SD, died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2018, at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls.

She was born Sept. 7, 1941, in Chester, SD, to Harold and Marie (Hagedorn) Olson. As a young girl, she moved with her family to a farm east of Pipestone, where she grew up.

Anne graduated from Pipestone High School in 1959, before moving to Sioux Falls, where she worked as a bookkeeper until July 28, 1962, when she married Dennis Bowman. The couple went on to live in Montevideo, Minneapolis, Maple Plain, Montrose, Valley Springs, Beaver Creek and Jackson.

Anne spent much of her time volunteering wherever she was needed. Through the years, she served as a Sunday school teacher, a Bible study leader, a board member of the Jackson Chamber of Commerce, and a youth ministry teacher at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Most recently, she worked at the Abiding Savior Lutheran Church preschool.

She is survived by two daughters, Dennette (Arnold) Marks of Fairbanks, AK, and Kari (Timothy) Flachman of Rock Hill, SC; six grandchildren; two sisters, Ethelyn (Norm) Fey, and Lois (Bruce) Kooiman of Edgerton; three brothers, Lyle (Ruth) Olson of Faribault, Harlan (Kathy) Olson of Sioux Falls, and Wally (Pat) Olson of Plymouth; sister-in-law Linda (Roy) Moeller of Hardwick; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Anne was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dennis Bowman, in December 1999; and by her sister, Gwendolyn.

A Celebration of Life took place Monday, Aug. 13 at Abiding Savior Free Lutheran Church, Sioux Falls, with private inurnment at Maplewood Cemetery, Luverne.

Arrangements were handled by the Heartland Funeral Home, Sioux Falls, SD.
