Glorene Joyce Clements, age 89, of Peoria, AZ, formerly of Cokato, passed away Friday, May 4, 2018, in Arizona.
She was born July 7, 1928, in Cokato, to John and Gerda (Larson) Martinson, the youngest of eight children. Glorene was confirmed at the Elim Mission Church in Cokato, and graduated from Cokato High School in 1946.
She moved to Denver, CO around 1950, and there met the love of her life, Wendell Clements. They were married Oct. 13, 1956, in Denver.
Glorene’s journey in life with Wendell took her from Arvada, CO, to Memphis, TN, Chicago, IL, and Bloomington, MN.
When Wendell retired from Union Pacific Railroad, after 43 years, they moved to Sun City West, AZ, and made there home there for the next 26 years.
Last fall, Wendell and Glorene moved to Palos Verdes Senior Living in Peoria, AZ.
Glorene and Wendell enjoyed entertaining, and travel. They especially loved Hawaii, making seven trips there; and also Palm Springs, CA. They also made many trips back to Cokato to visit family there.
Glorene had a passion for shopping, always finding a “deal.”
She is survived by her husband, Wendell, of Peoria, AZ; sister Violet of Cokato; and will also be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Glorene was preceded in death by her parents, John and Gerda Martinson; sisters Austrid, Evelyn, Helen, Gladys, and Mardell; and a brother, Arnold.
A memorial service took place Saturday, May 5 at Palos Verdes, AZ; and again at Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home in Cokato May 12. Interment was at Cokato City Cemetery.
