Stanley Duske Obituary – 9/25/2018


Stanley Duske, age 85, of Montrose, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2018.

Visitation will take place Sunday, Sept. 30 from 4 to 8 p.m. at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Montrose, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be Monday, Oct. 1 at 11 a.m., with visitation one hour prior, at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Montrose. Inurnment will be at a later date at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Montrose.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Stanley’s name may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association, American Heart Association, or St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church.

Stanley was born Nov. 19, 1932, in Albion Township, Wright County, the son of Herbert and Helen (Mahlstedt) Duske.

He was a farmer all his life, worked a while at Minneapolis Moline, and after retirement, he worked at the Flower Farm.

Stanley was united in marriage to Karen Ramthun Feb. 20, 1957, at Trinity Lutheran at Crawford Lake.

Stan was a man of strong faith. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, Oliver tractors, watching his grandkids in sports and activities, and time spent with family. He especially loved the holidays, when all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren came home.

Stan was a former member of the Montrose Lions, and former board member of the Federal Land Bank Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Helen; parents-in-law Henry and Gladys Ramthun; sisters Muriel Ramthun, and Ardis (Ellsworth) Mauk; and siblings-in-law Woody Lange, and Barb Ramthun.

Stanley is survived by his loving wife, Karen; children, Scott (Peggy), Wendy (Brian) Manson, and Curt (Kari); grandchildren Christopher Lund (Wendy Wells), Amanda (Jesse) Shank, Jennifer (Joel) Lorentz, Jessica (Matt) Halderson, Mariah (Curt) Donner, Jacob (Miranda), Aaron (Jami), and Nicole (Kody) O’Neill; and seven great-grandchildren.

He is further survived by siblings Carol (Orville) Horsch, Norman (Joel), Clifford (Wendy), and Keith (Kathy); siblings-in-law Bert (Marlene) Ramthun, Gerald Ramthun, Diane (Larry) Hance, and Jim Ramthun; and many other family and friends.
