Clara Ann Ernhart, age 97, of Winsted, passed away Monday, Feb 26, 2018, in her home, surrounded by family.
She was born July 20, 1920, in Lester Prairie Township, the daughter of Ed and Tillie Kohler.
Clara was baptized, made her first communion, and was confirmed at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted.
Clara and Ambrose Ernhart were joined in holy marriage, Nov. 7, 1939 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. God blessed them with nine children.
Clara was a dedicated wife, mother, and homemaker. She worked until Feb. 19, 2018, as a cook for funerals at Holy Trinity, and lived independently in her own home.
She enjoyed playing cards, painting bird houses, and gardening. Clara also thoroughly enjoyed hosting Christmas for her large family. The peak year there was 127 people at the Christmas dinner. One of her special talents was remembering names and ages of everyone in her family including children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Clara is survived by her children: Raymond (Juanita), Marcy Peterson, Mark (Jeanne), Carol Gierke (Jim), Stan (Jill), Marvin (Suzanne), Mary Curley, and Tom (Carla); 26 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren, daughter in law, Marcy; and sister Eileen Krattenmaker.
In addition to her husband, Ambrose, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert, and granddaughter, Amie.
Mass of Christian Burial took place March 1 at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted with Father Paul Schumacher as the celebrant. Interment followed at the church cemetery.
There was visitation Wednesday, Feb. 28 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted, with a rosary service and prayer service at 7 p.m.
