Zoa M. Fasching Obituary – 7/20/2018


Zoa M. Fasching, age 95, of Winsted, passed away Friday, July 20, 2018, at St. Mary’s Care Center.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Monday, July 30 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted, with Father Tony Stubeda as the celebrant. Interment will follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Zoa’s eight grandchildren: Sharon Brower, Lisa Turck, Lee Loew, Cari Gaines, Chris Kern, Charlie Kern, Tanya Remer, and Crystal Lachermeier.

There will be visitation Sunday, July 29 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted, with a St. Anne’s Rosary to be recited at 4:15 p.m., and parish prayers at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Monday at the church, one hour prior to the Mass.

Zoa was born Aug. 23, 1922, in Silver Lake, the daughter of Joseph E. and Elizabeth (Rozeske) LaMott.

She was joined in holy marriage with Raymond Loew June 22, 1942. He preceded her in death in 1970.

Zoa and Leander F. “Lanny” Fasching were joined in holy marriage Sept. 7, 1974. He preceded her in death in 2003.

Zoa was formerly employed at Tonka Toys in Mound for 10 years. She later owned and operated The Klip and Kurl Beauty Salon for 25 years in Winsted.

A faithful member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted, Zoa also belonged to the Saint Anne’s Society. She was a member of American Legion Post 407 Auxiliary, and VFW Post 9232 Auxiliary.

Zoa enjoyed volunteering at the Winsted Summer Festival and Winstock. She was fond of card playing, crocheting, gardening, and enjoyed being with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving daughters: Beatrice Rhode of Emily, and Peggy (Tony) Lachermeier of Waverly; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; four great, great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters Ed LaMott, Delores Fiecke, Janet Stibal, and Earl (Gail) LaMott; sisters-in-law Annette LaMott, Eileen Fasching, Margaret Chap, and Theresa Fasching; and many other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husbands, Zoa was preceded in death by her sons, Thomas K. Loew, and Robert “Bob” Loew; a daughter, Betty Ann Kern; a granddaughter, Dawn Marie Loew; a son-in-law, Douglas Rhode; brothers Marceal LaMott, and Clarence LaMott; sisters-in-law Mabel Tabaka, and Dorothy LaMott; and brothers-in-law Al Fasching, Bill Fasching, Leo Fasching, Shobby Fasching, Marinus Fasching, Bernie Fasching, Ron Stibal, Louis Fiecke, and Fr. Felix Fasching.
