Peter Michael Gaupp, age 71, of Rockford, passed away peacefully Monday, Feb. 5, 2018, at his home, after a battle with cancer.
He was born July 8, 1946, in Shanghai, China, and grew up in Havertown, PA.
Pete graduated from Haverford High School in 1965, and then attended Cornell University, graduating in 1973, with a degree in hotel administration,. He spent the majority of his career in hospital and restaurant management.
Pete’s love of dogs led him to his ultimate dream of starting a family-run business and, in 2002, Happy Days Doggie Camp became a reality. Built with the help of his family, Happy Days has become very successful and through the course of the past 15 years, Pete has prepared his daughter, Krissy to carry on his legacy.
Pete will be lovingly remembered by his wife and best friend of 47 years, Cindy; his children, David (Lisa), Scott (Megan), Kristin, and Gary (Theresa); his grandchildren, Logan, Spencer, Ethan, Joseph, and Tanner; his brother, Eric (Staci); his niece and nephew, Samantha and Jason; and his mother, Ursula.
He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Gaupp.
A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Peter was full of wisdom if ever you had a question, he was the man with the answer.
He taught you to be the best person you could be, and was a man with no tolerance for nonsense. If you were going to have input on something of substance, you better have the facts to back it and a source worth mentioning.
Peter was strong, confident, and loved his family and friends. He was his family’s rudder and sail that guided them through life’s unexpected twists and turns.
A memorial Celebration of Life service is planned for July 2018.
