Dean Robert Guggemos, age 84, of Montevideo, passed away Monday, July 30, 2018, at Luther Haven Nursing Home, with his wife, Jane, at his side.
He was born Oct. 25, 1933, in Winsted, to Arnold and Rosella (Steiner) Guggemos.
Dean graduated from Holy Trinity High School in Winsted in 1951.
He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1953 to 1956.
After returning home, Dean attended and graduated from Dunwoody College of Technology.
Dean and Jane (Lyman) were joined in holy marriage June 1, 1957, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. They were blessed with four children.
Dean was a member of the Montevideo American Legion Post #59 for 44 years.
He enjoyed many outdoor activities like hunting and fishing, was an avid gardener, and loved to cook for his family and friends; his “Dean’s Beans” were a favorite at all family functions.
Dean is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jane Guggemos; children, Julia Bourne (James) of Melrose; David Guggemos (Ashley) of Chanhassen; Karen Black (Joe) of Minnetonka, and Tracy Plinske (Darrin) of Brainerd; and seven grandchildren, Nicholas Bourne, Erin Bourne Northrup (Terry), Benjamin Plinske, Simon Black, Daniel Black, Greta Guggemos and Rachel Guggemos.
He is also survived by his sisters, Joan Kasper, Mary Stifter and Karen Sawatzke.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Rosella Guggemos; brother, Stanley (Bud) Guggemos; and sister, Charleen Stotko.
Mass of Christian Burial took place Friday, Aug. 3 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Montevideo, with visitation one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Interment was at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls.
Arrangements were with the Wing-Bain Funeral Home in Montevideo.
