Kay Joann (Sarkinen) Hendrickson, age 51, of Kingston, died Monday, April 16, 2018, surrounded by family at her home.
Her funeral service will be Saturday, April 21 at 2 p.m. at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church of Kingston, 70617 280th St., Dassel, followed by interment at the Swan Lake Cemetery.
There will be visitation Friday evening, April 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church.
The Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
Kay was born Nov. 17, 1966, in Vancouver, WA, to Robert and Patricia Sarkinen.
She grew up in Brush Prairie, WA, graduated from Prairie High School in 1985, and later attended Clark College.
Kay worked in the medical field, most recently employed at the St. Cloud Hospital in the cancer care ward as a patient care assistant.
Kay married Glen Hendrickson Aug. 19, 1990, in Brush Prairie, WA. They made their home in Buffalo, MN, before moving back to Washington in 1992. They then moved to Kingston in 2010.
Kay was a lifelong member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church. She loved her children and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Glen; two sons: Daniel of Maple Grove, and Blake and Madeline of Dassel; a daughter, Nina, at home; a grandson, Levi; her mother, Pat; siblings Larry and Christy, Connie, Kent and Tina, Jack and Jill, Kurt and Angelina, all of Brush Prairie, WA, Karen and Eric Rivers of Elk River, and Jane and Jeremy Lindberg of Battle Ground, WA; and Glen’s parents, Daniel and Shirley Hendrickson of Kingston.
Kay was preceded in death by her father; her brother Wally; and grandparents Walter and Alice Ek, and Olaf and Aune Sarkinen.
