Chester Carlton Hume, age 86, of Princeton, passed away peacefully Friday, July 27, 2018, at his home.
Memorial services will take place Friday, Aug. 10 at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church in Princeton, with Pastor Bill Marshall officiating.
There will be visitation at the church from 10:30 to 11 a.m., prior to the service. Burial will be in MN State Veterans Cemetery, Fort Ripley, immediately following services.
Chester was born March 22, 1932, in Cokato, to Howard and Bessie (Porter) Hume.
He married Irene Osterlon Nov. 20, 1967.
Chester worked as a machinist for Honeywell for over 30 years, and also did some farming in Ogilvie.
He was an avid gun owner, and belonged to the MN Sportsman Club, the NRA, and the Teamster Union. He also helped at the West Branch Gun Club and instructed snowmobile and firearm safety.
Chester was an animal lover and history buff. He was very proud of his service in the United States Marines.
Above all else, he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his children, Michael Hume of San Diego, CA, Patrick Hume of Coon Rapids, Russell (Susan) Narkie of Charlottesville, VA, Walter (Jeannie) Narkie of Champlin, Shannon (Jon Byrd) Schwartz of Bartow, FL, Keenan Narkie of Duluth, Bobbi (Amanda) Anderson-Hume of Plymouth, and Howard (Julie) Hume of Princeton; grandchildren, Kyle, Collin, Camille, Justin, Anna, Thomas, Jennifer, Shayna, David, Kayla, Joseph, Karrie, and Levi; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Irene in 2012; and sisters, Bonnie and Betty.
