Kenneth Klehr, 74

Kenneth George “Ken” Klehr, 74, of Dassel, formerly of Shakopee entered eternal life Friday, Oct. 5, 2018 at his home after a long and courageous battle with cancer surrounded by family.

Ken was born June 4, 1944 in St. Paul, the son of Harold and Mary (Conroy) Klehr.

He married Catherine Schmitz Sept. 25, 1965 at St. Mary’s Church in Shakopee.

Ken was very involved in the communities he lived in, coaching youth sports in Shakopee, served as president for the Lake Washington Improvement Association in Dassel and vice president of the lake board for Turtle Lake, WI. He also was the township supervisor for a time in Turtle Lake.

Ken is survived by his wife, Cathy; children, Kevin (Carolyn) of Wahpeton, ND, Jeff of St. Cloud, Kelly (Kyle) Jefferson of Prior Lake; grandchildren, Madelyn, Genevieve, Jenna, Eric and Andy Klehr, Evan and Elliana Jefferson; many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Mary Klehr; brothers, Jim and Don; sister, Cathy Plapp.

Visitation took place Wednesday, Oct. 10, from 4 to 8 p.m. at McNearney-Schmidt Funeral and Cremation, 1220 3rd Ave. E., Shakopee. Mass of Christian Burial took place Thursday, Oct. 11, at 10 a.m. at The Parish of Saints Joachim and Anne Church of St. Mark, 350 S. Atwood St., Shakopee, with visitation one hour prior in the parish center. Interment was at Catholic Cemetery, Shakopee.
