Mabel M. Lacina, 96

Mabel M Lacina, age 96, of Winsted, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2018, at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.

She was born Nov. 3, 1921, in Crookston, the daughter of Albert S. and Louise (Fenske) Thelen.

Mabel was baptized, made her first Communion, and was confirmed at St. Luke Catholic Church in Clearwater.

Mabel and Marvin W. Lacina were joined in Holy Marriage April 1, 1939, in Buffalo. God blessed their marriage with two children.

Mabel was formerly employed at Green Giant (seasonal), and at Edco, Inc. for 24 years as a seamstress (1960-1984).

She was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted, and belonged to the CCW.

Mabel loved her family and was always there for them. She was a wonderful, caring mother and grandmother, and always concerned for others.

She was very talented in sewing Barbie doll clothes for her grandkids, crocheting afghans, and making doilies. Mabel always had a beautiful garden, yard, and flowering plants. She also was a long-time collector of vases and dolls.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Albert (Judy) Lacina; and daughter Carol Kallenbach, all of Winsted; grandchildren Craig (Kate) Kallenbach of Fairmont, Rob (Joy) Kallenbach of Independence, Dawn Kallenbach (Jeff Wisuri) of New Hope, Karen (Joe) Sousa of Milbank, SD, Leanne (Ronald) Hertzog, Julie (John) Stapel, and Jamie Rainwater (fiancé Joshua Schroeder), all of Winsted, and David (Kristi) Lacina of Lester Prairie; great- grandchildren Jacob and Nathan Kallenbach, Jennifer, Kayla, and Kyle Kallenbach, Sophia Wisuri, Mikayla Sousa and fiancé Samuel Fonder, Zachary and Isaac Sousa, Connor Hertzog, Alexis and Cody Stapel, Dakota and Aiden Rainwater, and Hailey and Rebecca Lacina. Mabel is further survived by brothers Albert V. Thelen of Independence, KY, Ray (Darlene) Thelen of Lake Havasu, AZ, and Leon (Karen) Thelen of Sauk Rapids, MN; sister-in-law Marion Lacina of Buffalo; and many nieces, nephews, godchildren, and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert S. and Louise Thelen; her husband, Marvin W. Lacina; son-in-law Roger F. Kallenbach; sister Pearl Adelman; and brothers Melvin, and Earl Thelen.

A Mass of Christian Burial took place Monday, Feb. 19 at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted, with Father Paul Schumacher as the celebrant. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

There was visitation at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass.

Casket bearers were Craig Kallenbach, Rob Kallenbach, David Lacina, Jacob Kallenbach, Nathan Kallenbach, and John Stapel.
