Marcella “Sally” Margaret Martin, age 97, of Litchfield, died Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at the Meeker Manor Rehabilitation Center in Litchfield.
She was born Sept. 26, 1920, in Manannah, the daughter of Sidney and Mary (Reagan) Scribner. She grew up in the Manannah area and attended country school.
Marcella was united in marriage to Richard Martin Sept. 7, 1946, in Manannah. The couple lived on a farm by Litchfield, before moving to Lemon Grove, CA in 1952, where “Sally” worked at an air craft manufacturing company.
Twelve years later, Richard and Sally returned to Minnesota and farmed near Dassel. Sally also worked at Fabrictech as a quality control inspector.
Richard died in 2006, and Sally moved to Litchfield in 2011.
She was a member of the Church of St. Philip in Litchfield.
Sally and Richard enjoyed camping and the outdoors. Sally had a large garden, and enjoyed canning her produce. She also liked playing cards and dominos, making brownies, and celebrating St. Patrick’s Day.
Sally looked forward to luncheons with her retirement friends, and she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Sally is survived by her daughter, Janice (Tom) Manning of Litchfield; grandchildren Mike (Kerry) Manning, Jason Manning (fiancée Jennifer Paul), Sean Martin, and Tyler Martin; and great-grandchildren Gage, Bryce, Gavin and Jace.
In addition to her husband, Richard, Sally was preceded in death by her parents; and a son, John Martin.
Mass of Christian Burial took place Tuesday, March 20 at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of St. Philip in Litchfield.
There was visitation Monday, March 19 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home, with a parish prayer service at 7 p.m.; and continuing Tuesday at the church, one hour prior to the Mass. Interment was in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
