Pearl C. Nelson, 88

Pearl C. Nelson, age 88, of Watertown, passed away Thursday July 5, 2018, at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.

She was born Aug. 26, 1929, in Sentinel Butte, ND; the daughter of Henry and Nellie (Wills) Franzen. Pearl was baptized at First Lutheran Church in Beach, ND; and confirmed May 28, 1944 at the same church.

She was united in marriage to Ross Nelson May 17, 1947, in Glendive, MT.

Pearl’s family was her number-one priority in her life, taking care of whatever her children needed.

She was a huge fan of the Minnesota Twins, watching them on a regular basis.

Pearl liked to work on crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, and play Scrabble and card games. She crocheted many afghans for her family throughout her life, and her family always enjoyed the hot dish she made every Christmas Eve.

Pearl had a nurturing personality, helping out anyone who needed assistance, always putting everyone else before herself. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially the trees that they planted on their property.

Along with her children, she made up a family cookbook with all of their favorite recipes.

Pearl was preceded in death by her husband, Ross; sons Dallas and Robert Nelson; grandson Clayton Morrow; sons-in-law James Schulz and Dennis Noeldner; parents Henry and Nellie Franzen; four brothers; and one sister.

She is survived by her loving family: children Carol Noeldner of Chanhassen, Rita Clark of Norwood Young America, Marvin (Evelyn) Nelson of Grand Rapids, Lou Ann Schulz of Stacy, Nels (Cheryl) Nelson of Mayer, Cheyenne Morrow (Al Kestner) of Winsted, and Laramie (Kurt) Kalli of Longville; grandchildren Aaron (Shannon) Noeldner, Brandon Noeldner (Dawn Jones), Rory (Lyle) Hoese, Amanda (Noel) Smith, Destry (Tanya) Nelson, Lance Nelson, Jack (Tia) Nelson, Wade (Samantha) Nelson, Veronica Nelson, Shayle (Mark) Dominguez, Cory (Amanda) Schulz, Cody Schulz, Carrie (Jim) Peterson, Jake Nelson, Tara (Donny) DeMars, Janelle (Dan) Larson, Dalton Morrow, Alexis Kalli, Nathan Kalli; and 31 great-grandchildren.

Pearl is further survived by a brother, Maurice Franzen of Kansas; sisters Irma Schieffer of Wibaux, MT, and Cheryl Franzen-Befus of Gillette, WY; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Loretta Jenson of New Hope, Volborg (Dean) Molin of St. Michael, and Maynard Larson of St. Cloud; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

The funeral service took place Monday, July 9 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Watertown, with the Rev. Paul Krentz officiating. Interment was at Watertown Public Cemetery.

There was visitation Monday at the church, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.

Casket bearers were Pearl’s grandchildren: Brandon Noeldner, Amanda Smith, Veronica Nelson, Cody Schulz, Janelle Larson, Dalton Morrow, and Nathan Kalli.
