Kenneth Oscar Olson, age 83, of Minnetonka, formerly of Dassel, died Wednesday, June 12, 2018, at the Legacy Care Assisted Living in Minnetonka.
A memorial service will take place Wednesday, June 27 at 11 a.m. at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Dassel, with pastors Dan Thompson and Luke Swanson (Ken’s nephew) officiating. Interment of the urn will follow at the Dassel Community Cemetery.
The Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel is in charge of the arrangements.
Ken was born Oct. 26, 1934, in Dassel, the son of Oscar and Madge (Lowry) Olson. He was baptized and confirmed at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Dassel, and graduated from Dassel High School.
Ken was united in marriage to Ruth Ray June 9, 1956, at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Dassel. The couple lived in Dassel, and Ken worked for Haapala Seeds.
The family moved to Olivia in 1967, where Ken worked for Trojan Seeds. In 1974, Ken started his own companies, Olson Travel Agency and Kenco Incentives Inc. in Edina.
In 1979, Ken was united in marriage to Lynette Johnson, and they lived in Bloomington, and then Edina.
Ken enjoyed sports, hunting, yard work, cooking for his family, and teasing his family and friends. He also enjoyed traveling and spending time in Hawaii.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lynette Johnson; parents Oscar and Madge Olson; and siblings Clarice Swanson, Dorothy Tengwall, Norris Olson, and Marilyn Olson.
Ken is survived by his children: Scott Olson of Minneapolis, Jeffrey Olson of Edina, and Lori Telkamp of Bloomington; step-children Todd Johnson and Sheila Johnson of Minneapolis; seven grandchildren; four step grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
